ramblings...

I'm tired. It's just past nine o'clock and I'd love nothing more than to go to sleep. But since it's a Friday night I suppose I should actually stay awake past 10:00. I'm sick of being tired. I'm considering do an elimination diet to rid myself of whatever nasty food group causes such fatigue. In the meantime I'll continue to drink my last cup of joe at 1:30 since it usually gets me through the afternoon.

Biruk's tantrums are at an all time high. I've never seen it before and I wish some one could just tell me if it's typical three year old behavior or something more. We've been doing so well all around and this week I feel like someone has smacked me upside the head with an iron skillet. Somehow I've managed to keep my cool and cuddle, rock and hold him in the ergo to calm him but I wish we could avoid the piercing scream all together.

My kids have been averaging 10 hours of sleep a night. That include the 2 (almost 3) year old. I don't know how they are functioning during the day but they make it through. Then at bedtime they get a burst of energy and run around giggling followed by bedtime conversation until they eventually fall asleep. Then Nater & I look at the clock and say "It's already nine o'clock". Gone are the days of having all three of our kids asleep by 7:30.

I finally attempted homemade tortillas. Why in the world it took this long is beyond me but it was fun and I will no longer buy them at the store. I'm going to continue to search for a healthier recipe but in the meantime I've found an alternative.

Sometimes I gross myself out by the amount of food I consume. I made carmel corn tonight but had planned on making a double batch so I sat 8 cups of popcorn aside and after putting the kids to bed (and still stuffed from dinner) I managed to shove all 8 cups down my throat. Who does that? And why in the world do I have to lack self-control? Gross.

My house needs clean, the attic addition needs completed, carpets need cleaned, food needs baked, closets need organized, etc., etc. I focused on the kiddos this week and as a result I've completely fallen behind in my domestic duties (puke). But on the positive side, Conner is reading beautifully (he now knows short & long vowel sounds), the boys got tons of vitamin D and we all ate well this week. If only there were more hours in the day.

Happy weekend to all of you...

  2. I second everything Christina wrote! LOL
I just wanted to write and say: I Beatrice has been one hell of an intro BACK into age three. She got TICKED at me the other day because I helped her use the potty...up until that moment of toddler crazy she had DEMANDED that I help her use the potty. Oh my...I had forgotten how easy it was to tick them off...LOL.
Sending hugs and hoping we have the chance to chat soon!

  3. I wish I had some words of wisdom, but instead I'm stuck in my own version of the same as yours.

    Hang in there.

  6. B seems like a normal three year old to me. I remember thinking Allie's temper tantrums were completely over the top, but they were just normal for a high spirited very smart three year old. I think B would qualify as that.

And you know my go to answer, high protein snacks every two to three hours to keep their blood sugar stable. It revolutionized our family!

  7. I took meat and about half of my sugar intake out of my diet and have ridiculous amounts of energy. No idea. but it's true. I seriously don't even need coffee in the morning (still drink it cuz it's sooooo good).

That said, I'll take your tortillas and your popcorn. Love ya, friend.

  9. I hear you. Lots of cleaning and stuff needing to be done here too, definitely.

Man, I was soooo healthy for a while, but this moving business is racking me. Yesterday because I didn't want to mess up the kitchen, my son and I went to Chili's. And I h-a-v-e to order crap food when I go there since as a matter of course we eat pretty healthy at home.

    Your tortillas look deliciosas! Impresivas!
